Shakesperience Productions, Inc. is a nonprofit professional theatre company headquartered at 117 Bank Street in downtown Waterbury, founded in 1996 by Emily Mattina and Jeffrey Lapham. The company reaches a Northeast audience of adults and students through outdoor and in-studio performances, Saturday and private acting classes, school and camp tours, and residency programs. Programming includes seven-week Acting Intensives in fall, winter, and spring, plus week-long summer sessions for young people ages 7 to 17. Shakesperience presents Shakespeare’s plays for middle and high school audiences and develops custom residencies that lead students through adapting, rehearsing, and performing a play. The Neighborhoods! initiative explores the intersection of history and community transformation through storytelling, exhibitions, and discussion.
