Seth Stevens actually started painting in 2015, after a lifetime of drawing and doodling all of his life, particularly at work. As he has continued painting, he’s found himself more interested in figural abstraction than in purely representational work. He works in both oil and gouache paints, and sometimes acrylics. The relationship of light and shadow is an important focus in his work, and Seth enjoys working with bold colors and keeping images simple to make a strong statement. He travels between Connecticut and Provincetown, MA, and enjoys capturing the landscape and feeling of both places. As a frequent participant in member shows at the Provincetown Art Association and Museum, Seth has been accepted in several juried shows there. His current show at the Woodbury Library is his fourth solo show, and he is delighted to be part of our artistic community and to exhibit his work in the Woodbury Library’s beautiful gallery space. He hopes his work brings people joy and reminds them of places they know and love, especially in the Litchfield hills, where he grew up.
