Through the Lens of Nature with Marc Chabot

April 10 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Join artist, curator and local art historian Marc Chabot for a talk about the importance of the natural world has had on Woodbury artists. Mr. Chabot will present a PowerPoint lecture titled Through The Lens of Nature, a selective overview on how several noted artists based in Woodbury have been inspired by and focused on our rural landscape; with its flora, fauna, as well as the historic built “nature” of our picturesque New England town itself, as a focus of their art. Mr. Chabot, who personally met and knew these artists active over the span of the past century, will show and discuss a fascinating variety of art created here from the late 1920’s through the present day.
Mr. Chabot’s talk compliments The Nature of Woodbury, a collaborative project created by Sandy Carlson in her capacity as Woodbury’s Poet Laureate with the Woodbury Public Library and the Arts Alliance of Woodbury. Ms. Carlson encourages everyone who cherishes Woodbury’s natural beauty to contribute to an anthology that will be titled The Nature of Woodbury. Contributors can submit their poetry, prose, or visual art via a Google form that can be found on the Woodbury Public Library’s website at (There is a 500-word-count limit on prose.) All entries are due by Saturday, April 20, 2024. Ms. Carlson will edit the collection, which will be available for purchase during the Arts Alliance of Woodbury Arts Walks this summer.
