Renaissance Inspired Watercolors with ShawnaLee

Wednesdays 1-3pm;

Six week online course: May 8th through June 12th. Possibility of adding on two more classes at end if needed and desired by class*

$216 (includes all classes). PLEASE ONLY REGISTER FOR THE FIRST DAY. Your tuition covers all six classes.

In this six week online watercolor class, we will take our inspiration right out of 12th century manuscripts that were illuminated with incredibly detailed paintings of flora, fauna, fruits, and seeds! Our first class we will focus on exploring and getting comfortable with sketching and painting techniques followed by discovering the color-value blends for our initial lay in. We will explore color mixing together at every step so everyone has the opportunity for success. As the class progresses, students will be lead through the finishing process that brings a special “glow” to our subjects. Each step will be demonstrated with the camera directed onto the instructors example as we paint through the process together. Student questions gladly addressed. Feedback is positive and specific for everyone! This is a very rich, fun and meditative class filled with uplifting artistic conversation and camaraderie!
Experience with watercolors & drawing helpful. Any questions, please inquire: artist@shawnalee.com

After you register, the instructor will send you a secure Zoom link for your class. We will use this for all six of our classes. A PDF of our subject will also be emailed for your convenience. Links and class time may not be shared with unregistered and unpaid students. If you have additional people at your location that wish to join the class, please contact artist@shawnalee.com for additional information on group pricing.

Recommended art supplies include:

Watercolors (be sure to have white). I recommend MARIE’S set of 18, or treat yourself to a professional set such as Windsor and Newton. Can be tubes or cakes.
Palette (one area for arranging your desired colors and another one for mixing).
Mixed media or watercolor paper 11×14 is good size. (I will be demonstrating with Fabriano 1264 cold press)
Scratch paper
Pencils/erasers – an H or 2B graphite pencil and a kneaded & vinyl eraser
Assortment of paint brushes including a “liner” & rounds. I like using my #2 ruby satin round, #2narco golden touch liner & #2 marsel 220 round (mop), and a 1″ department store flat.
Paper towels
large rinse cup
some chopsticks or similar
low tack tape

*If the class needs and desires another two weeks, the fee is $72 for the two added on classes.
