Painting on Silk Scarves
May 24 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm$60.00
Dive into the art of silk scarf painting in our upcoming “Painting on Silk Scarves” workshop!
Silk painting originated in China and Japan over 1,500 years ago. This ancient art used natural dyes. Modern silk painting is done with acid dyes which allow the colors to bond to the silk and last forever.
In this 3-hour workshop, students will work in a small group setting and design two unique silk scarves. Scarves of various sizes will be available for you to choose. One scarf will be created using dyes, alcohol, and salt to make geometric patterns with multiple colors. The second scarf will use an acid dye blocker called Gutta, allowing for painting on the silk using line drawings for a more deliberate design.
