One-Day Watercolor Workshop: Pansies in Gouache

Gouache is an opaque watercolor paint that is mixed with water in the same way watercolors are, but provides a flat, matte wash of bold color and is less transparent than watercolor.

This workshop will focus on using wet on wet and dry brush techniques to replicate the colors, form, and texture of the pansy seen in the painting below. Demonstrations will include color mixing, working light to dark, layering of colors, adding fine detail, and dry brush techniques. Participants will be provided with a photograph , a line drawing, paints and brushes. The more advanced student can draw and paint from the real life flowers provided by the instructor.
