In this eight week online watercolor class, we will take our inspiration right out of 12th century manuscripts that were illuminated with incredibly detailed paintings of flora, fauna, fruits, and seeds! The first class we will focus on exploring and getting comfortable with sketching and painting techniques followed by discovering the color-value blends for our initial lay in. As the class progresses, students will be lead through the finishing process that brings a special “glow” to our subjects. Each step will be demonstrated with the camera directed onto the instructors example as we paint through the process together. A PDF of our subjects will be emailed to registered students for convenience reference printing. Class time allowing, we may also create a smaller painting of Chinese lanterns after our focus painting is completed together. Feedback is positive and specific for everyone! This is a very rich, fun and meditative class filled with uplifting artistic conversation and camaraderie!
Please only sign up for the first class day when registering via eventbrite. After you register, the instructor will send you a secure Zoom link for your class. We will use this for all eight of our classes. Links may not be shared with unregistered and unpaid students. If there is more than one person at your location that would like to join the class, a second seat may be purchased at half off and paid directly to the intructor via check, or through Venmo to @Andrew-Kwashnak. Please contact artist@shawnalee.com with any questions or concerns.
Recommended art supplies include:
