Free Summer Concerts
July 31, 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pmFree
The Fine Arts Connection of Thomaston continues its 20th year of free summer concerts in the park with a performance by Nancy Tucker. Due to planned renovations to the usual venue, this concert will be held in Reeves Field, North Main St. behind JDT’s Restaurant, from 7 PM to 8:30 PM on Monday, July 3rd. The corporate sponsor for the Summer Concert Series is the Thomaston Savings Bank Foundation.
Nancy Tucker blends outrageous squeaky clean comedy, spirited guitar instrumentals, and moving songs of human experience in her shows for people of all ages. Her music and comedy center around a passion for life ad laughter. Her guitar instrumentals have been compared to those of Michael Hedges and Leo Kottke, with a flair for unusual and kinetic compositions using every part of the guitar, including a guitar attachment of her own invention! No matter what the venue, Nancy captures each audience’s imagination and heart with gentle invitation and contagious lunacy.
Nancy is a fingerstyle guitarist with a flair for unusual and kinetic compositions, using every part of the guitar. From instrumentals about tipsy grasshoppers to a lively musical interpretation of a recalcitrant washing machine, to a cacophony of insect sounds blended into a rhythmic symphony, she approaches the guitar as if it were a miniature playground, exploring every possible sound from the strings, body, pegs, raw wood, and even the strap! Be prepared to laugh!!
Reeves Field is handicap accessible. The Town of Thomaston does not permit liquor in its Parks. Bring your lawn chair or blanket, and prepare to sit back and enjoy the wonder of live music! In the event of inclement weather, this concert will move to the Thomaston Opera House, 158 Main St. To check weather status, visit the website at www.thomastonfinearts.com.
