“Can Art Save the Planet?”

August 17 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Free

Join Conservation Artist Sarah Jane Thornington for a talk on how the impact of work created by debris artists can spread awareness of the worldwide plastic problem and our ecology.

Sarah has lived and created on Cape Cod for more than 30 years. She is a passionate defender of the planet and all creatures on it, including humans. Sarah accidentally became a ‘marine-debris’ artist in 2019 after she started a year-long project doing a beach clean-up every day for a year; counting, cleaning and sorting most of the 21,000 pieces she found that year. A few weeks into the project she started using marine-debris as her art medium and has been exploring and creating with found debris since then. Her conservation art is a labor of love, she works tirelessly to protect our planet, and to remind people of all of the many reasons it should be protected, and how they can help.
