Art Therapy or Art as Therapy?
November 10, 2022 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
FreeArt therapy is an expressive therapy that meets a client at their level. It has the ability to help guide one’s emotions through the use of different media. Art as therapy is a great tool. The fad of coloring books and Zen-tangle are great ways to reduce stress and anxiety. The difference between the two comes down to the purpose of the art itself.
Join Karen Anderson-Fignon for a talk about the differences between art therapy and art as therapy, individual versus group work, the kinds of art materials used and what it takes to become an art therapist.
Karen Anderson-Fignon is a Licensed Clinical Art Therapist, grief counselor, career and exploration specialist. She is a long time resident of Woodbury, international flight attendant, gardener and animal lover. She has worked with TAPS at Artful Grief for 14 years, owns a career exploration business and her art therapy studio is on Main Street in Woodbury.
